Summary:
A. L. Graziadei’s Icebreaker is a YA debut about two hockey players fighting to be the best—and the romance that catches them by surprise along the way.
Seventeen-year-old Mickey James III is a college freshman, a brother to five sisters, and a hockey legacy. With a father and a grandfather who have gone down in NHL history, Mickey is almost guaranteed the league’s top draft spot.
The only person standing in his way is Jaysen Caulfield, a contender for the #1 spot and Mickey’s infuriating (and infuriatingly attractive) teammate. When rivalry turns to something more, Mickey will have to decide what he really wants, and what he’s willing to risk for it.
This is a story about falling in love, finding your team (on and off the ice), and choosing your own path.
Notes:
This is Graziadei’s first novel.
There is an audiobook.
There is an ebook. There is a kindle edition.
My apologies for any earlier confusion. I was not entirely certain on the sexuality of one of the MCs, having seen various people use both the pansexual and bisexual label and so tagged it as both. However, I have now received confirmation that the author uses the bisexual label for him.
Archivist Comments:
There’s another book called Icebreaker about an enemies-to-lovers skater and a hockey player and it’s always the first one that pops up when I go to search something about this one.
The author is apparently a big sports fan and it shows in their writing.
A lot of people felt that the ending was a bit disappointing.
I keep seeing references towards a triad of potentially bisexual polyamorous tertiary characters.
