Summary:
Sixteen-year-old trans boy Benji is on the run from the cult that raised him—the fundamentalist sect that unleashed Armageddon and decimated the world’s population. Desperately, he searches for a place where the cult can’t get their hands on him, or more importantly, on the bioweapon they infected him with.
But when cornered by monsters born from the destruction, Benji is rescued by a group of teens from the local Acheson LGBTQ+ Center, affectionately known as the ALC. The ALC’s leader, Nick, is gorgeous, autistic, and a deadly shot, and he knows Benji’s darkest secret: the cult’s bioweapon is mutating him into a monster deadly enough to wipe humanity from the earth once and for all.
Still, Nick offers Benji shelter among his ragtag group of queer teens, as long as Benji can control the monster and use its power to defend the ALC. Eager to belong, Benji accepts Nick’s terms…until he discovers the ALC’s mysterious leader has a hidden agenda, and more than a few secrets of his own.

Archivist Comments:
Sometimes I get really excited to add a book and then remember I have to write an ID for the cover….this was one of those times. Not that that cover isn’t gorgeous (it is), but I think I’ve spent the last twenty minutes building up the nerve to do it.
This book and author have been submitted to the archive on about 5 separate occasions, with varying degrees of praise and enthusiasm, so I’m pleased to finally be able to add it. This is part of what the first person who submitted it had to say:
“I really enjoyed this book and found it’s look into transgender identity to be really well done. The author is a disabled, autistic, mspec, trans man. This book is a horror that features a lot of body horror and gore throughout the book. The book features heavy religious themes with eugenics aspects as the main villain is an evangelical religious group that is trying to wipe out the world to reach salvation. There is fade-to-black sex. There are many allusions to and talk about an abusive relationship. There is misgendering and transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and references to racism. The author has a list of more content warnings on his sight by his name. This is a big recommendation for me.”
